2026 Medal

Do you want to help us design the medal for 2026?  2026 TRM Medals Design Contest Rules:

• Submit your designs to medals@tobaccoroadmarathon.com by midnight ET on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.
• The final design may be based on none, one, or many of your submissions. The TRM Race Committee will make the final design decision and will award up to five no-cost entries to the March 15, 2026, Tobacco Road Full or Half Marathon.
• There may be similarities between designs. As such, the selection of winning design(s) as made by the TRM Race Committee is not subject to review or further discussion even if there are similarities between a submitted design and the final medal.
• The medals will be roughly 4.5" for the Full medal and 4.0" for the Half medal.
• The designs must have a "train theme" given our course being mostly on the ATT rails-to-trails trail.
• Ideally, the designs will have some interesting, moving feature. For instance, in recent years, we have had a removable medallion, a sliding train, a spinning engine, and a 3D stand.
• There is no need to submit "professional" artwork. Your design can simply be the concept for the medals as our medal provider can do the final design.
• In your submission, be sure to highlight any specific features. For instance, open space (the medal does not have to be solid), if there is anything on the back of the medal, if the edges are smooth (or spikey, like, ironically, we had in 2020).
• Your design does not have to be round.
• Each color adds some cost, so keep colors limited. We recommend no more than six colors.
• We do have to watch the overall cost, so don't get too elaborate.
• Suggestions: Think of your favorite medals from other events...and consider what the Tobacco Road Marathon means to you. Maybe something about NC or the Triangle, pine trees lining a shaded trail, support for local charities, or just a whole lot of fun!
